Springfield Plastics looks to raise money to support cancer research at the Simmons Cancer Institute at Southern Illinois University in Springfield. The company first launched the "Drain for the Cure" campaign in 2014 and have continued to raise more than $114,000.

Last year's campaign raised over $56,000 and organizers are aiming higher this year. The company says, "Everyone has been touched by cancer in one way or another; by donating to "Drain for the Cure" you can help make a difference in someone's life and contribute to finding the cure."

Springfield Plastics Inc., based in Auburn, Illinois, is a Midwest manufacturer that has created plastic pipe solutions in the agricultural, residential, commercial and highway markets. During the month of October, Springfield pledges to match donations (up to $25,000) dollar for dollar.

All donations received will benefit cancer programs and research done at Simmons Cancer Institute at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. Established as one of the leading cancer facilities in the United States, the Institute serves patients by addressing their present and future cancer care needs through medical education, biomedical research, patient care and community service.

Springfield Plastics would like to encourage area residents to donate to this successful campaign. Checks can be made payable to SIU Foundation and can be mailed or dropped off at Springfield Plastics located at 7300 W. State Route 104, Auburn, IL 62615.

All donations received during the month of October will be matched by Springfield Plastics (up to $25,000). This is the chance to double your donation and help put an end to cancer. For more information, please visit www.spipipe.com
