USDA aims to boost water, soil health in more than one million acres of the Chesapeake Bay watershed

By 2020, the United States Department of Agriculture wants to improve water quality and soil health in the Chesapeake Bay, which touches Virginia and five other states as well as the District of Columbia.
Officials plan to help farmers use environmentally-friendly methods, develop technology to identify best practices and consult with thousands of citizens. The goals focus on refining or adapting practices in line with the latest science, including cover crops, reducing till work and planting buffers to trap nutrient runoff. | READ MORE
