Eric Young, soil science expert, spoke about the impacts of tile drainage on watersheds at a public event at Cayuga Community College in Auburn, New York.
During the talk, Young put an emphasis on drainage and looked toward the future with the development of best practices for nutrient management.
Young shared current results that help put nutrient loss in perspective. While research is still ongoing, the results showed that tile drainage can help prevent phosphorous runoff but might increase nitrogen output when compared to surface runoff from non-tiled fields. | READ MORE
