Progress on new buffer requirements going strong

Almost all Minnesota landowners required to put in 50-foot buffers along rivers and other public waters have installed them or are in the process of doing it as the Nov. 1 deadline approaches.
Many more, narrower buffers still need to be installed along farm drainage ditches, but the deadline for those isn’t until Nov. 1 of 2018.
Land next to rivers and other public waters require a 30-foot minimum and a 50-foot average buffer strip.
Many more farmers are required to put in 16.5 foot buffers along drainage ditches. The deadlines for those is Nov. 1 of next year. For the full story, click here.
