Pipe industry trade association Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI) is officially marking a milestone birthday.
PPI is celebrating its 70th year in operation. Initially founded in 1950 as the thermoplastic pipe division of the Society of the Plastics Industry, it went on to stand alone as an association representing all segments of the plastic pipe industry. Its mandate focuses on research, development of industry standards, advocacy and education.
Notable accomplishments include: creating the methodology for rating the long-term strength of pipe materials, establishing standard dimensional ratios and the adoption of numbers to state those properties.
