March 31, 2022  By Drainage Contractor

Just one month after announcing funding for the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre to complete two tile projects in the Algoma and Manitoulin regions through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), the Government of Ontario has announced another list of NOHFC recipients, including another tile drainage project.

Of the $3.4 million allocated to six projects, $1 million will go toward the Northeast Community Network, an economic development network of 12 area municipalities, to install 1,824 acres of tile drainage for higher crop yields.

Other investments include $1.2 million to Rogers Crop Enterprises to establish a grain and oilseed farm, $319,800 for a Northeast Community Network business plan to develop and market 1.2 million acres of underused, privately held land for agriculture, and additional projects in forestry, infrastructure and local recreational projects.
