Mieks Addition project approved

March 24, 2021  By Bree Rody

The Indiana township of Meiks will move forward with a drainage project in order to relieve flooding in the area – sooner than previously expected.

With tile prices expected to increase in the near future, the board has set out to purchase the tile required to replace 1,200 feet of damaged tile. The tile will be wider than what was previously installed, at 16 inches.

Board member Kevin Nigh said tile prices are expected to increase 30 to 40 percent, which is why the board acted quickly in order to avoid significant cost increase. This was helped in part by landowners who cooperated by paying their portions of the assessment up front, rather than spreading it out.
