Lawsuit over nitrates in Iowa’s water to go forward

Jan. 9, 2015, Des Moines, IA – Des Moines Water Works will sue three counties in northwestern Iowa over high levels of nitrate in the Raccoon River.
The Des Moines Register reports the lawsuit will target several drainage districts managed by Sac, Buena Vista and Clahoun counties, all of which feed into the river.
The lawsuit will be filed in federal court under the Clean Water Act.
