Nov. 25, 2014, Mankato, MN – A landowner in Minnesota is being forthright about the timing of his request to be removed from his local drainage system.
According to the Mankato Free Press:
“As much as $2.4 million in improvements are planned for the 100-year-old drainage system, and that means a big bill for any landowner in the ditch system. [Eric] McMonagle doesn’t want to pay, and he asked the Blue Earth County Board… to grant his petition to have his land removed from the system before the repairs are made the bill is sent out.”
Changes to state law, made back in 2010, have made it easier for a landowner to petition for their land to be removed from a drainage system.
