How biochar can solve the issue of nutrient runoff

New research from Texas A&M AgriLife and Tarleton State University could help solve a key issue in agricultural drainage: allowing fertilizer to stay on crops, where it belongs, instead of seeping into waterways.

Scientists from both parties will work together to develop and demonstrate a biochar-assisted phytoremediation system, enhancing the quality of water used during application. The biochar will be specially designed to remove phosphorous and ammonia from the manure, as well as cleaning and removing pollutants from crop water runoff. | READ MORE
