Hot weather and heavy rainfall exacerbates nutrient runoff

Dead fish have been washing ashore in various Minnesota lakes. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) refers to this event as “fish kill.” It typically happens when it’s hot and after a lot of rain, where nutrient runoff enters a lake.

The DNR says the state is not at a high level of concern. Residents in the meantime can reach out to their local park and recreation board to have staff members clear away any fish kill. | READ MORE
