This is a bi-weekly recap of new funding available and grants awarded for projects related to drainage, water health, watershed improvements and more. Funding approved
Two clean-up and restoration projects are set to begin in Midland County, Michigan within the month of February. The projects were approved by the Midland County Board of Commissioners and are supported by two bonds amounting to approximately $2 million in total ($885,000 for the Clark Drain, $1.2 million for the Lawson Drain). Over in the U.K., £355,372 of funding has been committed to an improvement project on the playing fields at Burrows in Leckhampton. The funds include both levelling of the football pitches and drainage works. The funding was secured by Tewkesbury Borough Council as part of planning approval for a development on the border between Tewkesbury and Cheltenham District.
Applications now open
As of Jan. 20, the Governments of Ontario and Canada are accepting applications for projects that aim to improve sustainability and water health in the Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair watershed areas. Approximately $3 million could potentially be awarded. Details here.
