Buffer strips remove more nitrate from tile drainage water

Iowa State University researchers found that saturated buffers are efficient at removing nitrogen, making it an effective and cost-efficient conservation practice that leads to cleaner water. 

The saturated buffer works with existing equipment and tile work and reduces the amount of nitrates that leave the field. Saturated buffers will be highlighted at this year’s Farm Progress Show running from Aug. 28-30 at Boone, Iowa. | READ MORE
