LICO launches Professor Ross W. Irwin Memorial Scholarship

May 6, 2014, Ontario – In memory of Professor Ross W. Irwin, the Land Improvement Contractors of Ontario have made a gift to the University of Guelph to endow and establish the Professor Ross W. Irwin Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will support a student in Water Resources Engineering who has demonstrated academic excellence in soil and water conservation course work, as well as active involvement in water conservation issues.

Professor Ross Irwin passed away in March 2013 at the age of 92. He researched and taught soil mechanics and land drainage at the University of Guelph for 35 years. His outstanding contributions have been recognized by many professional societies, and he was inducted in to the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2006.
